Mohawk College is home to students from all over the world, each bringing their own culture, perspective, and story. For many, studying abroad is a chance to step outside their comfort zone, discover new opportunities, and experience life through a different lens.
Mohawk College is home to students from all over the world, each bringing their own culture, perspective, and story. For many, studying abroad is a chance to step outside their comfort zone, discover new opportunities, and experience life through a different lens.
It’s exciting, challenging, and transformative all at once—and that’s exactly what we’re celebrating during International Education Week.
Learn About Mohawk’s Beyond Borders Program
This year’s International Education Week highlights how global learning shapes who we are as students, leaders, and as a community.
One key component of the week is Mohawk’s Beyond Borders program, which invites students to expand their worldview through international study experiences. Mohawk International will be sharing details about their upcoming Beyond Borders program to Costa Rica—an opportunity to study abroad that encourages students to develop new skills, understand global issues, and learn through hands-on experience in Central America

Find Community at the Global Connections Cafe’
The Global Connections Café will bring students together to share experiences, traditions, and cultural perspectives in an open, welcoming space. This event will spotlight MSA Clubs & Communities, showcasing the program and informing curious students on how to start their very own.
One of those communities is the Muslim Student Community (MSC). For many students, groups like the MSC play an important role in helping them feel grounded and welcomed—especially when they’re far from home or adjusting to a new environment.
“The cultural diversity at Mohawk is one of its greatest strengths,” said Al-Harith Salman, president of the MSC. “From teachers to students to staff, it’s a welcoming environment that encourages people to connect and coexist in peace and harmony.”
The Café aims to highlight this spirit of connection by helping students learn about the communities available to them throughout the year, and how these spaces can offer comfort, friendship, and opportunities to get involved. Student staff from The MSA will be available to help students explore where they might feel most at home on campus.
Global Story Time: International Education Week Contest
The MSA is collaborating with Mohawk’s Beyond Border program to offer Global Story Time, a social contest in celebration of International Education Week. Every student who enters the contest will have a chance to win one of two $50 OneCards.
- Share a photo, reel, or story explaining what global learning means to you
- Winners will be announced on November 27
