Diwali: The Festival of Lights

Diwali, also known as the Festival of Lights, is one of the most celebrated holidays in India and around the world. Rooted in Hindu tradition, it symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The word Diwali comes from Deepavali, meaning “row of lights,” and is marked by families lighting oil lamps, candles, and fireworks to brighten the night.

How is Diwali Celebrated?

Celebrating Diwali often includes cleaning and decorating homes, preparing sweets, exchanging gifts, and spending time with loved ones. Many also visit temples, light diyas (small lamps), and set off fireworks. It’s a time to embrace generosity, gratitude, and new beginnings.
