Des is in the General Arts and Sciences program with a 2+2 pathway in Indigenous Studies—and heading into their third semester this fall with purpose and passion. After just one year at Mohawk, she knew it was time to step up and help make student voices, especially Indigenous voices, heard loud and clear. That’s exactly why she joined the MSA Board of Directors: to represent, to advocate, and to spark change from the inside out.
She believes student leadership should be a proper representation of the students they serve—and she’s here to make sure every idea, concern, and suggestion gets brought forward to both the MSA and the College’s executive teams. Whether it’s pushing for Indigenous representation or helping students feel seen and supported, Des is all in.
Outside the boardroom, you’ll find her diving into a good book. A true bookworm, she reads across all genres and is always open to new recommendations (so don’t be shy—share your favourites!).
This year, Des is especially excited about driving federal-level advocacy for Indigenous students and empowering all Mohawk students. She’s not just making space—she’s amplifying voices.
