Are your old winter clothes taking up space in your closet? You can now donate them to a student in need!
We're collecting winter coats, hats, gloves, mittens, scarves, and other cold-weather necessities for students. Visit The MSA Service Desk from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday to make your donation.
A winter coat is a necessary investment when you live in Canada. Temperatures can drop from negative fifteen to negative 30 degrees Celsius beginning in January.
Most Canadians will wear their coat for 6 to 9 months out of the year and spend anywhere from $100 to $1000 when they buy one new in-store. With the increasing cost of inflation, new winter clothing is out of reach for many college students.
Global Business Student Claudia Gutierrez says she can buy a coat in her home country of Colombia for $40 to $60 maximum but has been waiting for a sale to replace her coat here.
"Even no-name brand coats can cost up to $400 here, which is outside of my budget," Gutierrez said.
Now is your chance to clean up your space, reduce waste, and give your old coat a new life and a student a warm hug for the winter. Donate your winter clothes to The MSA Service Desk at your campus from Monday, December 9, until Friday January 31, 2025.
