Mel is the powerhouse behind the MSA’s advocacy work — championing student voices, building strong relationships, and making sure real change happens where it counts. As Governance & Advocacy Specialist, she works closely with student leaders and campus partners to bring important issues to the table and turn ideas into action.

One of her favorite initiatives? The Menstrual Product Program, which brings free sanitary products to MSA washrooms — a small change that’s made a big impact on student well-being and accessibility.

For Mel, the best part of her role is walking alongside students through their college journey — forming meaningful connections and being there for the highs, the lows, and everything in between.

Outside of work, Mel is all about quality time with the people she loves — and if that time comes with a fat plate of salmon sashimi, even better. Warm, driven, and relentlessly student-focused, Mel makes advocacy feel personal — because to her, it is.
